Apple has debuted its newest creation, the Vision Pro, and has started the process of bringing the product to market. However, there's still a lot of work to be done on the software, as the most polished parts were showcased during demonstrations for select individuals in the media, developers, and financial analysts. The company needs to finish adapting their core iPad apps for the new visionOS, make sure the device is comfortable to wear, continue testing and refining the hardware, and finalize the rollout strategy.

Even with the focus on the Vision Pro, Apple is continuing to work on the next slate of iPhones, iPads, Macs, watches, and more. While the hardware for the Vision Pro is essentially complete, Apple is still expanding testing and planning the rollout strategy. Many employees are now working on adapting the core iOS and iPadOS apps for visionOS and creating new versions for the operating system. While a handful of new visionOS apps were showcased, others such as Calendar, Maps, Books, and Mail are still in development.

Additional engineers are now working on the highly anticipated EyeSight feature, which helps differentiate the Vision Pro from competing models. The feature isn't functional on the demo hardware yet, but Apple is working on ensuring that it's fully operational for the official launch. However, more people testing the headset has led to some users experiencing motion sickness and finding the metal-framed device too heavy after a couple of hours.

To remedy the weight issue, Apple has developed a second strap that goes over the wearer's head. But discussions are ongoing about whether the company will sell the strap as an extra accessory or include it in the box.

Marketing for the new device will involve creating new areas within retail stores for demonstrations and sizing for the light seal and bands. Apple is considering requiring appointments for purchases initially, much like they did for the original Apple Watch. The company has even developed an iPhone app that will scan customers' faces, helping to determine the correct size for the light seal. The app could potentially also be released to consumers shopping online.

While the Vision Pro isn't expected to go on sale until early 2024, the groundwork is being laid for the next headset models, including a second-generation high-end model and a lower-end headset. Meanwhile, Apple is focused on several critical updates across each of its main product categories, including a revamped MacBook Air, two Apple Watch Series 9 models, new iMacs and MacBook Pros, and more.

Developers now have access to the visionOS software development kit, as well as the visionOS simulator for the Mac. While some aspects of the operating system are still in development, developers can begin creating apps and exploring the different aspects of visionOS. Overall, there's a lot for Apple to focus on as they continue to bring the Vision Pro to market while simultaneously developing and releasing other highly anticipated products.
