Taylor Swift has added three more nights to her Singapore tour early next year, following in the footsteps of British rockers, Coldplay, who will play six shows in January. Swift's concerts will take place in March and will form her only Southeast Asian stop on her "Eras Tour". The announcement was made before sales of tickets for her initial three performances even began. Pre-sales for cardholders of a local bank begin on July 5th, with the general public getting their chance two days later.

Following Coldplay's lead, who added Singapore concerts due to "overwhelming demand" for their first four nights, Swift's concert fever has helped reheat the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions) sector in Singapore, which is a boon for the city-state's economy. Local politicians are excited about the knock-on benefits in a post-Covid economy.

The concert craze has been stoked by Swift's young fans, who have beseeched Education Minister Chan Chun Sing to declare a school holiday on her concert days in Singapore. Mr. Chan responded on Facebook, saying: "How about this? If any creative and enterprising fan can invite her (or any other A listers just to be fair) to your school to perform free of charge, we can have your school declare a school holiday?! Then everyone gets to enjoy this inclusive concert!".

Overall, Singapore is seeing an increase in demand for concerts, with the new dates added by Coldplay and Taylor Swift selling out in less than three hours. Live Nation, the concert promoter, has hinted at the possibility of additional ticket releases. This trend is expected to continue, with concert organizers set to capitalize on the popularity of both acts, making Singapore a must-stop destination on future tours.
