Tesla Inc. has been actively expanding its presence in international markets as its sales in the US and China start to plateau. According to a recent regulatory filing, the electric carmaker's revenue from other international markets more than doubled to $7.86 billion in the second quarter. While the US still remains Tesla's largest source of sales, its revenue there has remained relatively flat.

Having recently started taking orders in Malaysia and showcased its vehicles at a motorsports festival in the UK, Tesla is determined to tap into new markets and diversify its revenue streams. This push to expand globally has been paying off, as evidenced by the significant increase in revenue from international markets.

However, as Tesla plans to schedule factory shutdowns for upgrades in the third quarter, it may face challenges in maintaining its revenue growth. CEO Elon Musk mentioned during the company's earnings call that production will likely be slightly reduced, without providing specific details. This production "choppiness" is expected to impact Tesla's stock performance in the near term, as it raises questions about whether the company has reached a saturation point with its Model 3 and Model Y, which accounted for the majority of deliveries in the first half of the year.

Despite potential obstacles, Tesla's continued focus on international expansion demonstrates its commitment to exploring new markets and sustaining its growth trajectory. While the US and China markets may have reached a plateau, the company remains optimistic about the opportunities that lie ahead in other regions around the world. By targeting and catering to the unique needs and preferences of international consumers, Tesla aims to solidify its position as a global leader in the electric vehicle industry.
