Hundreds of Bollywood songs have been removed from Spotify due to a licensing dispute, leaving fans without access to their favorite tunes. The entire catalog of Zee Music, India's second-largest domestic music label with 93.7 million subscribers on YouTube, was taken down by Spotify on March 14 after the two companies failed to reach a licensing agreement. Zee Music has not responded to requests for comment.
Zee Music owns the rights to more than half of all newly-released Bollywood music, according to its LinkedIn page. Fans have taken to Twitter to express their disappointment. Despite the removal from Spotify, Zee Music's catalog can still be streamed on YouTube and Apple Music, where it offers a variety of songs in different genres.
