Erling Haaland has been a game-changer in the English Premier League this season, scoring goals with incredible consistency that sets a new pace for everyone else to follow. His two goals during Manchester City's 4-1 victory over Southampton on Saturday set new records and helped keep the pressure on league leader Arsenal in the title race.
The 22-year-old Norwegian has scored 30 goals in the Premier League this season in just 27 games, faster than any other player. He has already equaled the record of 44 goals scored by a Premier League player in all competitions in one season, with a maximum of 16 games left. Haaland is just four goals away from the outright Premier League goal-scoring record, jointly held by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer.
Although he has been compared to Messi and Ronaldo, City manager Pep Guardiola believes Haaland has some way to go to reach their levels. However, Guardiola is confident that Haaland's prolific goal-scoring will continue as he is one of the key players in a City side filled with creative talent.
