China has dismissed reports that India presented intelligence to Myanmar alleging that China is helping to build a surveillance post on a remote island in the Bay of Bengal. The Chinese Foreign Ministry described the report as “sheer nonsense”.
According to officials who spoke to, Indian representatives shared satellite images with Myanmar counterparts that appeared to show Chinese workers helping to construct a listening post on Coco Islands. Myanmar’s State Administration Council has also called the allegations “absurd”.
