Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have announced that their much-anticipated 2023 tour will now be postponed until 2024. The decision comes as Springsteen continues to recover from peptic ulcer disease, as stated in a recent press release. The legendary musician, who celebrated his 74th birthday last week, is taking the advice of his doctors and exercising caution by rescheduling the remaining shows.

Earlier this month, Springsteen revealed that he would be postponing all of his September 2023 tour dates due to symptoms related to the disease. Peptic ulcer disease causes the formation of ulcers in the stomach or small intestine, leading to discomfort such as heartburn, nausea, and stomach pain. This led to the cancellation of shows in several cities, including Baltimore, Philadelphia, Albany, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Washington, Connecticut, and Ohio.

Now, the newly postponed shows include Canadian dates and a West Coast run, with stops in Phoenix, San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. The rescheduled concerts, which will take place at the original venues, are set to be announced this week.

Peptic ulcer disease can be a serious condition, sometimes resulting in bleeding or emergency situations like the perforation of the ulcers through the stomach. However, with the right treatment, which typically involves proton pump inhibitors like Prilosec, healing can occur within four to six weeks. Dr. Lawrence Kosinski of the American Gastroenterological Association stated that people who receive proper treatment "recover completely from peptic ulcer disease."

Bruce Springsteen expressed his gratitude for the support he has received during this time, saying, "Thanks to all my friends and fans for your good wishes, encouragement, and support. I'm on the mend and can't wait to see you all next year."

The news of Springsteen's illness first surfaced in May when he postponed three dates. His 2023 tour, his first in six years, began in February with an electrifying show in Tampa, Florida, where 20,000 fans stood and enjoyed a 28-song setlist. The concert featured beloved classics such as "Born to Run," "Glory Days," "Rosalita," "Promised Land," and "Backstreets."

Fans will now have to wait a bit longer to witness the magic of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on stage, but the promise of a rescheduled tour in 2024 brings hope and excitement for what's to come.
