Germany has approved a request from Poland to re-export five Soviet-designed MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine from former East German military stocks. The move is part of Germany's ongoing efforts to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia's invasion. The approval was granted quickly by Chancellor Olaf Scholz's ruling coalition after the Polish request was received on Thursday.
The MiG-29s had previously been given to Poland and required approval from Berlin to be delivered to Ukraine. The decision highlights Germany's commitment to supporting Ukraine in its struggle against Russian aggression, and underscores the country's reliability as a partner in the region.
