In 1976, O'Neil set the women's absolute land speed record, driving a hydrogen peroxide-powered three-wheeled rocket car and reaching an incredible average speed of 825.127 km/h, with a top speed of 999 km/h. This earned her the title of fastest woman in the world. She also held the women's high-fall record of 127 feet (39 m) while working as a stunt double in the Wonder Woman TV series.

O'Neil passed away in 2018 at the age of 72 due to pneumonia. She received the Oscars in Memoriam award in 2019 in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry. Her incredible story was brought to life in the biopic Silent Victory: The Kitty O'Neil Story, released in 1979, which highlighted her groundbreaking land speed record.

Google's Doodle serves as a reminder of the extraordinary life and career of this inspiring woman, whose fearless spirit and determination broke barriers and paved the way for generations of women in the stunt industry.
