Apple is gearing up for a significant product refresh in early 2024 as it strives to reverse a decline in Mac and iPad sales. The tech giant is reportedly preparing several new models and upgrades, including the iPad Air, iPad Pro, and MacBook Air. While the company has not made any official announcements, insiders familiar with the matter have revealed some key details.

According to sources, the new iPad Air will be available in two different sizes for the first time. This move aims to offer consumers more options at different price points. Alongside this, the iPad Pro will receive an upgrade with OLED screens, providing a wider range of colors and aligning the tablets with the display technology used in iPhones since 2017. Additionally, the MacBook Air is expected to feature the faster M3 processor.

Both the Mac and iPad segments have experienced a decline in sales due to decreased consumer tech spending. The iPad slump has been particularly detrimental, exacerbated by the absence of new models in 2023. This marked the first year in the product's history without any new releases. Mac sales also suffered a 34% drop last quarter, while iPad revenue decreased by 10%.

In an effort to revitalize demand, Apple plans to launch the new iPad models and accessories around the end of March, coinciding with the release of iPadOS 17.4. The Macs, on the other hand, will be developed alongside macOS 14.3. While the software update is expected to be available between late January and February, the hardware may not ship until March.

Apple's launch events for Mac and iPad products typically take place in March, making this timeline consistent with past practices. However, the company remains tight-lipped about its plans and has declined to comment on the matter.

As for the specific devices, the iPad Air, which currently boasts a 10.9-inch screen, will now include a larger version measuring approximately 12.9 inches. This move aims to offer consumers a bigger display option without the higher price tag of the iPad Pro. Apple is reportedly working on four new iPad Air models, with each size offering both Wi-Fi-only and cellular versions.

The revamped iPad Pro models, scheduled to be announced alongside the iPad Air, will finally receive a major redesign. The incorporation of OLED screens and the introduction of the M3 chip, previously featured in the MacBook Pro, are expected to significantly enhance the high-end tablet's performance and display quality.

In addition to the new iPad models, Apple is also preparing updated versions of the Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard accessories. These accessories will be sold alongside the new iPad Pro. The third-generation Apple Pencil will be introduced, and the Magic Keyboards will feature a more robust aluminum frame, giving the iPad Pro a laptop-like appearance.

Beyond the iPad and Mac updates, Apple has other ambitious plans for 2024. This includes the launch of the Vision Pro headset in early 2024, an updated Apple Watch with blood pressure sensing capabilities, a refresh to the iPad mini, a new low-end iPad model, larger upscale iPhones, and revamped low-end and mid-tier AirPods with the inclusion of a USB-C port.

Apple is certainly putting its focus on rejuvenating its Mac and iPad sales by offering consumers a range of new and improved devices. As the tech giant prepares to unveil its latest creations, anticipation builds among Apple enthusiasts eager to see how these products will fare in a competitive market.
