The explosion occurred at the CCCL explosives store, causing massive destruction in the Providence Industrial area. The president's office stated that the region had already experienced major destruction due to heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding. The recent heavy rains have added to the existing crisis in Seychelles.

Local reports suggest that approximately 100 individuals sustained injuries as a result of the explosion. Furthermore, two deaths were reported as a result of the floods. The Providence Industrial area, located in the largest island of Mahé, was heavily affected, and almost every building in the vicinity of the explosion suffered significant damage, rendering the area akin to a "war zone," according to officials.

President Ramkalawan's office has urged the public to cooperate with the police and stay at home during this state of emergency. The situation has plunged Seychelles, a former British colony in the Indian Ocean, into a state of crisis. The country, with its population of just over 100,000, is the least populated in Africa. The explosions and subsequent flooding have further exacerbated the challenges faced by the nation.

Efforts and resources will undoubtedly be directed towards managing the aftermath of the explosion and addressing the widespread destruction caused by the heavy rains. It is crucial for the government and authorities to swiftly assess the situation, provide necessary aid and support to affected individuals, and work towards the restoration of normalcy in the impacted areas. The people of Seychelles will rely on their leadership and the international community to navigate through this crisis and rebuild their lives.
