Selena Gomez, the multi-talented popstar, actor, and beauty mogul, may soon be bidding farewell to her singing career. In a recent episode of the "Smartless" podcast, Gomez revealed that she feels like she has one more album left in her before she considers focusing primarily on her acting career.
Growing up, Gomez always had her sights set on becoming a serious actress. Her foray into music happened unexpectedly when Disney approached her to create an album while she was starring in the popular Disney Channel sitcom "Wizards of Waverly Place" in the late 2000s. Initially, Gomez thought of music as a fun hobby rather than a full-time career, but it quickly became something more.
Since 2013, Gomez has released three studio albums, featuring chart-topping hits such as "Come & Get It," "Same Old Love," and "Lose You to Love Me." She even received Grammy nominations for Best Latin Pop Album in 2022 for her Spanish-language EP "Revelación." However, her true passion lies in acting, and she now desires to settle into that realm.
The demands of juggling both music and acting have taken a toll on Gomez, particularly considering her mental health struggles. She candidly addressed these challenges in her 2022 docuseries "Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me." While Gomez acknowledges that there is no direct pressure for her to choose between music and acting, she recognizes that a decision may be on the horizon.
As she contemplates her future, Gomez expressed a desire to take a step back and find some much-needed rest. "I'm going to want to chill because I'm tired," she admitted during the podcast episode. It seems that she is ready to settle into a more balanced and fulfilling career, where she can focus on her true passion for acting.
In addition to her accomplishments in music and acting, Gomez has also made a mark in the beauty industry. In 2020, she founded her cosmetics company, Rare Beauty, which she considers to be a significant achievement. Launching the brand during the Covid-19 pandemic proved to be a success, and Gomez expressed immense gratitude for its growth.
As Selena Gomez contemplates her next move, fans can expect one final album from the talented artist. However, it seems that her heart lies in the world of acting, where she hopes to find the stability and fulfillment she has been seeking. Regardless of her choice, Gomez's admirers will undoubtedly continue to support her in all her future endeavors.
