Dodge, a celebrated brand known for its high-performance vehicles, is gearing up to launch its first all-electric muscle car this year. This bold move towards electric vehicles marks a significant shift for the company, which has long been synonymous with powerful gas-powered engines. The electric Charger is set to make its debut this summer, followed by a four-door BEV next year, alongside a gas-powered model equipped with a more efficient turbo engine.
While embracing the future of electric mobility, Dodge is ensuring that its electric offerings remain true to the brand's heritage of performance and power. The company has emphasized that its electric vehicles will stand out from the competition, taking a playful jab at more conventional electric car designs with what they refer to as "melted jellybean" EVs.
Among the standout features of Dodge's electric models are customizable interior lighting that changes color based on different drive modes, a unique button on the steering wheel that can unleash an extra 40 horsepower in short bursts, and an integrated camera that allows drivers to film their races and share their exhilarating experiences.
Production of these innovative vehicles will take place at a Stellantis manufacturing plant in Windsor, Ontario. The electric models will be powered by a robust 100.5 kilowatt-hour nickel-based battery sourced from Samsung SDI in Korea, with plans to transition to batteries from Stellantis and Samsung's joint venture in Indiana post-2025. This strategic partnership ensures that Dodge's electric muscle cars will continue to deliver exceptional performance and driving experiences for years to come.
