Gwyneth Paltrow has testified in court that a ski collision at an upscale Utah resort in 2016 was not her fault, but rather that the man suing her, Terry Sanderson, had collided with her from behind. Speaking in court, the founder-CEO of Goop said that she was shocked by the crash and initially thought that she was being violated. Both Paltrow and Sanderson are expected to answer questions in court about the crash, with attorneys arguing over who had the right of way.
Paltrow’s legal team has attempted to limit photography in and around the courtroom, while Sanderson’s legal team has reenacted the crash for the jury. The trial has touched on issues of skier etiquette, celebrity, and Sanderson’s deteriorating health following the incident. After having his initial $3.1m lawsuit thrown out, Sanderson is now seeking damages of “more than $300,000,” while Paltrow has countersued for a symbolic $1 and attorney fees.
