In a recent announcement, supercar manufacturer Lamborghini has revealed a recall of 2,133 of its luxurious Urus SUVs in the United States. The reason behind the recall stems from a potential hazard wherein the hoods of the vehicles may unexpectedly open when driven at high speeds. The issue, affecting approximately 2% of the recalled vehicles, arises from the formation of small gaps between the hood and front bumper when the Urus exceeds 94 miles per hour.
Lamborghini, a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG, has identified that these gaps, if allowed to persist, can lead to increased stress on the latch system. As a result, the latch system may fail, causing separation between the hood latch striker and the hood itself. While no reported cases of accidents or injuries have been attributed to this defect, the company is taking proactive measures to ensure the safety of its clientele.
The Urus SUV, Lamborghini's best-selling model worldwide, is known for its performance and opulence, with a base price exceeding $200,000 in the US. This recall highlights the company's commitment to quality and safety, prioritizing the well-being of its customers. Lamborghini urges affected Urus owners to contact their authorized dealerships for inspection and necessary repairs to address this hood safety concern promptly.
