Internationally acclaimed rapper, Nicki Minaj, reportedly faced detention at Schiphol airport in Amsterdam over apprehensions of carrying 'soft drugs'. The 41-year-old was arrested and held questioning few hours prior to her slated performance at a concert in Manchester, England.
Utilizing the social media platform X, the award-winning singer shared her predicament with followers via a video. In the footage, an airport staff member could be heard intimating that law enforcement officials are necessitated to thoroughly check her luggage.
She noted in a subsequent post, "They're now claiming to have found cannabis in my possession and are waiting for another team to arrive to calculate the weight of the pre-rolled joints".
The Dutch military police collaboratively stated that an American woman in her early 40s was indeed taken into custody for allegations of carrying soft drugs on Saturday. They further stressed the fact that it is against the law to transport such substances outside the Dutch borders.
Although the police did not explicitly confirm if the detained suspect was the renowned musician, they stated that she was still in detention while the investigation was underway.
Nicki Minaj, who has previously been a judge on the popular show "American Idol", successfully delivered a performance at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam last Thursday. As per schedule, the rapper is expected to return for another performance at the same venue on the 2nd of June.
