The Taylor Swift Eras Tour, along with other events, helped to drive Las Vegas tourism to pre-Covid levels in March, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. The city saw a 9.6% increase in visitors compared to the same period in 2022, with about 3.66 million people visiting in March. The Pac-12 men's college basketball tournament and a weekend of Nascar racing also contributed to the boost in tourism.
In addition to these events, Las Vegas had a "robust convention month" in March, which included North America's largest construction trade show, CONNEXPO-CON/AGG, bringing about 140,000 attendees. The city has seen a surge in tourism from Swift fans who were willing to travel hundreds of miles to attend her concert series after public ticket sales were canceled by Ticketmaster due to extreme demand. Swift announced at her March 24 show that she was the first woman to ever headline at Allegiant Stadium, which opened in September 2020, according to Billboard magazine.
The headliners and events, paired with the convention, helped weekend hotel occupancy reach 94.5% in March, the highest it has been since February 2020, just before the pandemic shut down travel. The overall hotel occupancy was 88.3% in March, up from 82.2% in February.
For the first three months of the year, more than 10 million people visited Las Vegas. The record year for visitors was 2016, with 42.9 million visitors. The boost in tourism is a positive sign for the city's economy, which has been hit hard by the pandemic.
