France secured a convincing 2-0 victory over their neighbors Belgium in a thrilling Nations League clash. Despite a slow start, the French team, with eight changes to their starting lineup, showcased their strength and resilience to claim their first points of the campaign. Randal Kolo Muani opened the scoring with a close-range finish, capitalizing on a rebound from Ousmane Dembele's shot. Dembele, who was a constant threat throughout the game, later doubled the lead with a superb left-footed strike that left Belgium goalkeeper Koen Casteels with no chance.
The match saw Belgium make a strong start, creating early opportunities before France settled into their rhythm. French coach Didier Deschamps praised his team for their collective effort and the impact of inexperienced players stepping up to the challenge. Meanwhile, Belgium's manager Domenico Tedesco admitted that his team failed to maintain the right mentality for the majority of the game, allowing France to capitalize on their chances.
Belgium's late efforts, including attempts from Charles De Ketelaere and Kevin De Bruyne, were not enough to break through the French defense. Kylian Mbappe, who came on as a substitute, added energy to France's attack, coming close to scoring on multiple occasions. With Italy securing a 2-1 win over Israel in the other Group A2 fixture, France now sits level on points with Belgium in second place, three points behind the leaders. The victory served as a statement of intent from the French team as they aim for success in the Nations League campaign.
