Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has suspended Lionel Messi for two weeks after he left the team without permission to attend personal business in Saudi Arabia. According to a source within the club, Messi missed a training session on Monday to attend promotional events outside of France. While in Saudi Arabia, the Argentinian soccer star was pictured relaxing with his family, and the country's Minister of Tourism tweeted a welcome message to Messi and his family.
PSG has two matches scheduled over the next two weeks against Troyes and Ajaccio. Messi's absence may impact the team's performance, particularly after their recent 3-1 loss to Lorient. However, PSG remains at the top of the Ligue 1 table.
Messi has a contract with PSG until June 30, 2023. However, there are multiple reports suggesting that the 35-year-old may not stay at the Parisian club. The unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia may add fuel to these rumors.
It remains to be seen how the suspension will affect Messi's relationship with PSG and his future with the club. For now, fans will have to wait and see whether Messi will be back on the pitch with PSG in two weeks' time.
