General Motors (GM) is issuing a recall for approximately 2,890 Chevrolet Equinox EV vehicles from the 2025 model year. The recall is prompted by concerns regarding the vehicles' adaptive cruise control system. Specifically, the adaptive cruise control in these all-wheel drive electric vehicles may not engage the brakes as intended due to inaccurate brake module software. This malfunction increases the risk of a potential crash, as the system may not respond appropriately to traffic conditions.
As a response to the issue, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has mandated that GM dealers update the software calibration in the brake system control module at no cost to the owners. By rectifying the software error, GM aims to ensure that the adaptive cruise control functions correctly and maintains the safety of drivers and passengers on the road. Owners of the affected Chevrolet Equinox EV vehicles are encouraged to contact their local dealerships to schedule the necessary software update as soon as possible.
