In a positive turn of events for EasyJet Plc, the airline is experiencing a surge in bookings for its flights and holiday business in preparation for the upcoming summer season. Despite the traditionally slow winter period, the company remains optimistic about its fiscal 2025 outlook as more than half of the second-quarter program has already been sold.
EasyJet Holidays, in particular, is expected to see significant growth of approximately 25% year-on-year, following a profitable fiscal first quarter performance with £43 million in profit. CEO Kenton Jarvis highlighted that while the late Easter season will impact winter results this year, the outlook for summer is encouraging.
The airline has already secured bookings from one million additional customers for summer flights and vacations, with Mediterranean destinations like Alicante and Faro proving to be popular choices. However, market expectations for the winter months are lower than anticipated, leading to a slight decline in EasyJet's stock value.
Johan Lundgren's departure as CEO marks the beginning of a new era for EasyJet, with Kenton Jarvis stepping in to lead the company forward. As the first major budget airline in Europe to unveil its earnings this quarter, EasyJet's results set the stage for its competitors, Ryanair Holdings Plc and Wizz Air Holdings Plc, who are due to report their earnings next week.
