Renault SA and China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. have unveiled plans for a strategic collaboration to jointly manufacture and market electric and low-emission vehicles in Brazil, marking a significant step in their existing partnership. Geely's investment in Renault's Brazilian unit will pave the way for enhanced access to the country's production facilities, sales channels, and service network.
Building on their collaboration through the Horse venture, focused on combustion-engine and hybrid powertrains, the new agreement solidifies Geely's presence in South America's largest economy. The partnership will leverage Renault's Ayrton Senna complex in Parana for the production of new vehicles developed jointly by the two automakers.
The success of the venture hinges on finalizing definitive agreements and obtaining approval from regulatory bodies. Financial terms of the partnership remain undisclosed at this time, but the expansion of cooperation between Renault and Geely signals a promising new chapter in their joint pursuit of sustainable mobility solutions in the Brazilian market.
