Unveiled in an extravagant event in Shenzhen, the Maextro S800 boasts a price tag exceeding 1 million yuan, positioning itself as a competitor to top-tier models from global luxury automakers like Mercedes-Benz and Bentley.
At the core of the Maextro S800's appeal is its blend of opulence and cutting-edge technology. Features such as a crystal shimmer ceiling reminiscent of Rolls-Royce's signature design, a triple-screen dashboard, and over 30 sensors that power Huawei's advanced driver-assistance technology set it apart in the luxury sedan segment. During the unveiling event, Richard Yu, head of Huawei's consumer business group, highlighted the advancements in China's auto industry, signaling a shift towards a higher echelon in the global market.
Huawei's foray into the luxury automotive space builds upon the success of its collaboration with Seres Group Co. in the Aito brand, which dominated sales in the 500,000 yuan and above category in China last year. With a focus on the growing trend of Chinese luxury consumers transitioning to electric vehicles, the Maextro S800 aims to offer a compelling alternative with its fast-charging battery technology, emphasized by industry leaders such as JAC's Xiang Xingchu and Robin Zeng from Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd.
Drawing parallels with renowned luxury models like the Maybach S680, the Maextro S800 presents a competitive price point starting at 708,000 yuan for its base version. This move by Huawei comes amidst aggressive pricing strategies by other Chinese automakers, including BYD's introduction of the Yangwang range featuring million-yuan EVs like the U9 sports car and the U8 luxury SUV.
