Johnny Depp received a warm welcome from the audience at the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday, as his latest film, "Jeanne du Barry," was met with a seven-minute standing ovation. The film stars Depp as the former King of France, Louis XV, and it is his first film project since his high-profile defamation trial with ex-wife Amber Heard last summer, which resulted in both parties being found liable for defamation.

During the press conference for the film, Depp addressed the media and spoke of "abstract whispers" and how the majority of what has been written about his life in the past few years has been "fantastically, horrifically written fiction." He also mentioned that the focus should be on the fact that it is a miracle to get a film made that you care about, and that is a win in itself.

Depp also mentioned that he does not feel boycotted by Hollywood, as he does not think about Hollywood. He is solely focused on making films that he cares about and is passionate about.

"Jeanne du Barry" tells the story of Jeanne Bécu, Comtesse du Barry, who was known as Madame du Barry, and was a mistress of King Louis XV. The film has been described as a success by Cannes chief Thierry Frémaux, who also praised Depp's performance, calling it magnificent.

The decision to open the Cannes Film Festival with "Jeanne du Barry" was made so that the film could simultaneously be released in French cinemas, as platform films are not put in that slot. This decision was made to ensure that France could participate in the festival.
