The Ifo institute's expectations gauge rose to 91.2 in March, surpassing the previous month's 88.4, defying expectations of a slight drop predicted. The current conditions index also showed an increase.
According to Ifo President Clemens Fuest, the German economy is stabilizing, despite the turbulence in some international banks. Although Germany's economy has shown signs of improvement, analysts still anticipate a mild recession in the next six months through March. The financial industry's broader stability has also been questioned due to the recent collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and the emergency rescue of Credit Suisse Group AG. The manufacturing sector in Germany remains weak, while the service sector is driving private-sector growth.
