Instead, the party has selected Daniel Korski, who previously worked as an adviser for former Prime Minister David Cameron, Mozammel Hossain, and London Assembly member Susan Hall. The winner of the party's internal election will face off against incumbent mayor Sadiq Khan in the 2024 election.

Paul Scully's absence from the shortlist comes as a surprise to many, given that he serves as a government minister with responsibility for the city of London and has been an active participant in city government. However, the Conservatives have apparently decided to go with a different set of candidates to present to their members.

The selection of Korski, Hossain, and Hall suggests that the Conservatives are looking for candidates with a range of experiences and backgrounds. Korski's time as an adviser to a former prime minister gives him a unique perspective on national politics, while Hossain's past work on community projects makes him an attractive candidate for voters interested in local issues.

For her part, Hall has been an outspoken critic of Mayor Khan and has earned a reputation as an advocate for government accountability. All three candidates will have the opportunity to make their case to Conservative Party members in advance of the election, and the ultimate winner will face a tough fight in the race to become London's next mayor.
