Adidas AG, the German sportswear giant, has announced a groundbreaking extension of its shirt-sponsorship agreement with popular English football club Manchester United. This new deal, which will run for 10 years, ensures that Adidas will continue to proudly display its iconic stripes and logo on the players' shirts until 2035. With a value of at least £900 million ($1.2 billion), this partnership marks one of the largest in Premier League history.

The decision to renew the sponsorship agreement comes at a crucial time for Manchester United, as it is currently navigating a sale process. The Glazer family, who has owned the club since 2005, is actively seeking potential buyers or investors. Notably, billionaire Jim Ratcliffe from the UK and Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad J.J. Al Thani, a member of Qatar's royal family, have both submitted bids valuing the club at over $5 billion. While Manchester United has experienced some ups and downs in recent years, the team's performance improved during the previous season. However, it has struggled to return to the level of success achieved under the leadership of former manager Alex Ferguson, who retired in 2013, coinciding with the club's last Premier League triumph.

Adidas initially entered into a sponsorship deal with Manchester United in the 2015/2016 season, which was worth at least £750 million. This extension of the agreement now serves as a crucial move for Adidas, especially as it seeks new opportunities for growth following the termination of its partnership with Kanye West, the rapper and designer known as Ye.

With this long-term partnership and the immense financial investment, the collaboration between Adidas and Manchester United is set to bring both brands significant benefits. Adidas will continue to showcase its brand logo to a global audience through one of the most popular and prestigious football clubs in the world. Meanwhile, Manchester United will receive a substantial financial boost that will enable them to further strengthen their squad and compete for honors both domestically and on the European stage.
