A massive fire broke out at a warehouse in the German city of Hamburg, prompting authorities to warn residents of heavy smoke and potential toxins in the air. Videos on social media show the warehouse engulfed in flames early on Sunday, causing smoke to billow into the sky. The Hamburg fire department issued an alert stating that the smoke and chemicals resulting from the fire could affect breathing, and that the smoke cloud was moving towards the city center.
About 140 individuals have been evacuated, while local residents have been advised to keep their windows and doors shut, according to NDR news. Trains between Hamburg and the nearby town of Büchen have been cancelled due to the incident, with delays of up to 90 minutes also affecting trains between Hamburg and Berlin.
