Elon Musk, the CEO of X (formerly Twitter), recently conducted a live-stream of himself playing through a dungeon in the highly anticipated game, Diablo IV. The purpose of the stream was to test the capabilities of X's social network in handling game streaming.

The livestream lasted for 52 minutes, although the initial portion was spent setting up the stream correctly with the assistance of a staff member. During the stream, Musk played a tier 69 dungeon and hosted the stream on a new account he created specifically for this task, titled "cyb3rgam3r420."

Although Musk did not promote the stream on his main account, he managed to attract a maximum concurrent audience of 1,300 viewers, with a total of 20,000 viewers by the end of the stream. This experiment showcased X's potential as a platform for game streaming and highlighted its growing ambitions beyond traditional social networking.

Musk and X's CEO, Linda Yaccarino, have been working towards reshaping the platform to encompass not only social networking features but also feature-length videos and payments. Additionally, Musk revealed that game streaming is now live on X, although he mentioned that it can be quite complex to set up. He also noted that viewers who wish to engage with streamed content will need to have subscriptions.

By streaming the popular game Diablo IV as a test case, Elon Musk seems to be making an effort to tap into the game-streaming market, which is currently dominated by Amazon.com Inc.'s Twitch. X's recent introduction of revenue-sharing for paying subscribers might attract Twitch streamers who have been dissatisfied with the monetization policies of the Amazon-owned platform.
