In a recent survey conducted by the National Institute of Development Administration, Thai opposition leader Pita Limjaroenrat has further solidified his position by widening his lead over Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin. The survey, which included 2,000 respondents from across the nation, revealed that Pita's approval rating has risen to 42.75%, up from 39.4% in the previous poll. This increase underscores the divided political landscape in Thailand, with Pita's progressive agenda resonating with a significant portion of the population.

Conversely, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin's approval rating has declined to 17.75% in the latest survey, down from 22.35% previously. This decrease in support for the Prime Minister may indicate growing discontent with the current government's policies and leadership. The ongoing challenges facing Srettha's administration have put his political survival at risk, especially as Pita's popularity continues to soar.

The Move Forward Party, led by Pita Limjaroenrat, has faced numerous obstacles since its electoral victory last year. Despite winning the election, Pita was blocked from assuming the country's top political office due to opposition from lawmakers aligned with the pro-military royalist establishment. These lawmakers joined forces with the runner-up Pheu Thai Party to form a government, ultimately endorsing Srettha Thavisin as Prime Minister.

The Move Forward Party's progressive agenda, which includes proposals to reform the military and combat business monopolies, has been met with resistance from entrenched political interests. The party's vocal advocacy for reform has also led to legal challenges, with the Election Commission recently petitioning the Constitutional Court to dissolve the Move Forward Party. This move follows a previous ruling in January that found the party and Pita had violated the constitution by allegedly seeking to undermine the monarchy through their campaign to amend the royal defamation law.

If the Move Forward Party is dissolved, its executive leaders, including Pita Limjaroenrat, could face a 10-year ban from participating in politics. This threat of political exclusion underscores the ongoing struggle for democratic reform and political freedom in Thailand. The potential dissolution of the Move Forward Party would not only impact its leaders but also deprive a significant portion of the population of a political voice that has been advocating for progressive change in the country.
