Emergency services spent Sunday sifting through the remains of a mobile home community situated to the north of Dallas with the grim task of locating those missing in the wreckage. With five confirmed deaths, Cooke County Sheriff Ray Sappington noted this figure could potentially increase. However, he did not provide details as to where the bodies were found.

"I am afraid we might come across more casualties," Sappington informed The Weather Channel.

Further reports from the Associated Press revealed another five casualties across Oklahoma and Arkansas, along with multiple injuries. Local officials confirmed that two fatalities occurred in Oklahoma while three more people were pronounced dead in two separate Arkansas counties. They emphasized that search and rescue efforts were still under progress.

A tornado was sighted near Valley View, Texas, roughly 60 miles (97 kilometers) in the northeast direction from the city center of Dallas on Saturday evening, according to the National Weather Service based in Fort Worth. They had previously issued warnings regarding the possibility of severe thunderstorms, tornadoes and sizable hailstorms, predictably the size of golf balls, particularly in areas around the Texas-Oklahoma border.

The severe weather also wrought havoc at a travel center located by an interstate highway known to have been used as a storm shelter by travelers. Video coverage from news channels depicted emergency vehicles clustered around a gas station which had been mangled into unrecognizable scrap. Circulating amidst the debris were cars and trucks that had their windows blasted out.
