China is doubling down on its efforts to stabilize and prevent further declines in the real estate market in 2025, as reported by China Construction News. The focus is on promoting the reform of the commercial housing sales system and expanding urban village renovation efforts to address the housing needs of a diverse population. The country aims to strictly control the supply of commercial housing while ramping up the availability of affordable housing for new citizens, young individuals, and migrant workers.

In response to the real estate crisis in 2021, policymakers have been actively implementing new measures to stimulate home demand. Initiatives such as reducing mortgage rates, minimum down-payments, and tax incentives have been introduced since September to make housing transactions more accessible. These efforts have started to show progress, with home transactions in October and November witnessing growth compared to the previous year and month.

In November, China's home prices experienced the slowest decline in 17 months, thanks to government interventions aimed at revitalizing the sector. Notably, an official from the Central Financial and Economic Affairs Commission has urged for swift adoption of policy measures to stabilize the real estate market. The emphasis is on granting local governments greater autonomy to manage housing stock efficiently.

As China navigates the challenges in the real estate sector, the concerted efforts and strategic interventions demonstrate a proactive approach towards ensuring stability and sustainability in the housing market.
