In a significant step towards embracing the future of automotive technology, Ferrari has disclosed that its inaugural fully electric model is set to hit the roads in October 2026. The announcement comes following the company's unveiling of a 15% increase in first-quarter core earnings, with CEO Benedetto Vigna affirming the firm's commitment to its overall financial objectives for the year.
Previously hinted at during February's capital market day, Vigna emphasized that the highly anticipated electric vehicle will be officially revealed in stages, beginning with a showcase of its "technological heart" this October. The grand finale, featuring the car itself, is scheduled for a global premiere in spring 2027, followed by deliveries commencing just a few months later in October 2026.
Analysts noted a potential delay in Ferrari's launch timeline, as the physical unveiling was expected sooner. However, Ferrari's historical practice involves deliveries commencing approximately three quarters after a model's introduction, suggesting a plausible trajectory for the new electric car.
While the luxury sports carmaker affirms its commitment to petrol and hybrid models in the future alongside electric vehicles, the shift towards electrification is evident. Hybrid models accounted for 51% of Ferrari's sales in the previous year, reflecting evolving consumer preferences and environmental demands.
Despite the possible impact of U.S. tariffs on its 2025 profit margins, Ferrari retains its financial outlook steadfast, distinguishing itself from rivals who have withdrawn guidance. Reaffirming a minimum full-year EBITDA of 2.68 billion euros and an EBITDA margin of at least 38.3%, the company's resilience showcases confidence in its strategic direction.
Following the announcement, shares of Ferrari listed in Milan rose by 1.6% at closing, underscoring investor optimism. The strong financial results for the first quarter, with core earnings reaching 693 million euros in line with analysts' expectations, were attributed to a premium product lineup featuring models like the SF90XX family and increased demand for personalized features sought by customers.
Additionally, Ferrari unveiled the new 296 Speciale plug-in hybrid model and its convertible variant last week, as part of a promise to introduce a total of six new models in the current year, including the debut of its first electric vehicle. CEO Vigna reaffirmed the brand's commitment to continuous innovation and product enrichment, reflecting Ferrari's dedication to staying at the forefront of luxury performance automotive engineering.
